More Neat Places

Studio 87

The cafe.

Leeston. Not a place that would usually feature high on the “must visit” list. However, this small farming town has recently become a destination in itself thanks to an ex Christchurch artist-cum-café owner, Missy Sharplin. A photorealistic painter and artist, Missy moved to Leeston to live in an old school and whilst there saw the opportunity to purchase a café on the main street

The Village Grape

Outdoor dining.

A long time provider of a fine selection of wine, beer and spirits to Sumner locals, The Village Grape operating from its post-earthquake premises now is not only an off-license liquor store, but a sweet wee garden wine and beer bar

Catering Belle

The counter.

Occupying a small shop front in Woolston, Catering Belle is filled with delicious lunch options, all lovingly displayed in an old Ballantynes glass cabinet. The mini cakes rotate on a revolving platter whilst the extravagant-looking meringues take centre stage. And they taste as good as they look. All the food is made on site (sandwiches and sausage rolls included) by the Yorkshire chef

Canterbury Museum

Close up of a window.

Housed in a grand historic stone building in Christchurch’s cultural precinct, the Canterbury Museum is a great facility for providing insight into the natural history, heritage and culture of Christchurch and Canterbury

Kinji Japanese Restaurant

Sushi platter.

An unexpected surprise in the suburb of Bishopdale is the Japanese restaurant, Kinji. Playing host to a number of regulars, as well as a strong following of new customers, Kinji offers great food and impeccable service

Coopers & Co

Deli.

Coopers & Co is a café and deli that would be quite at home in any small rural town – its offerings are hearty and wholesome. The food is prepared before your eyes, and the serving area is littered with quirky vintage kitchen items
