Beat Street café is a bit of a Christchurch institution. The tattooed girls behind the counter, cabinet food (they have vegan cake!) and über cool clientele all make this bohemian café a unique hang out. There’s a real hippy-chic vibe here and don’t forget to look out for the poetry nights that take place every Thursday.
Now open late every night for dinner, Beat Street is one of the few cafés in Christchurch open after 4pm (yes, even on a Sunday!). The delicious, eccentric food is reasonably priced and although the café isn’t licensed at the moment, you can enjoy a peanut butter or Perky Nana smoothie instead.
