Since opening its doors over 20 years ago, Galaxy Records has become a Christchurch music institution. Now part of The Archive (which houses an arts space, venue, bar and student radio station RDU), there are tempting CDs, DVDs and vinyl at every turn. If you want to support local business then the best thing you can do is order your music through Galaxy Records. Although the store is not brimming with albums (instead, there is a very selective collection), the owner will search high and low for your music choice of the moment. As a perfect compliment to the Darkroom bar next door (where live music is played regularly), Galaxy Records is an ideal music destination.
