An unexpected surprise in the suburb of Bishopdale is the Japanese restaurant, Kinji. Playing host to a number of regulars, as well as a strong following of new customers, Kinji offers great food and impeccable service.
The setting is small but ambient, stylish and reasonably authentic with its distinctive Japanese art, decorative walls and hanging lanterns. Service comes with a smile at Kinji, and is fast and efficient.
The menu offers lots of delicious Japanese fare – regular suspects and some interesting takes on old classics. The meals, made using fresh and high quality ingredients are beautifully presented, and portions are generous. That said, the menu recommends ordering a number of dishes to share. Set meals are also available. Look out too for the ever-changing specials menu, which features delicious fare made using seasonal produce. The meals are reasonably priced, and can be enjoyed with a Sake or Sapporo beer. Kinji is BYO as well.
