Christchurch folk do farmers markets well. Whether buying or selling, there’s always a sense of community spirit and passion in the air for trading locally and direct to the public. The farmers market in Lyttelton epitomises this vibe. At this market (in the Lyttelton Main School car park) you will find fresh fruit and vegetables, breads, cheeses, hot chocolate and plants (among others).
The not-for-profit market is run by local volunteers and recycling is encouraged so visitors should bring their own (reusable) bags. The vendors are all local, either from Lyttelton or the surrounding bays, as the focus of the market is solely on community.
