Vivace is a lively and pleasant cafe with bright and spacious interiors. The earthy tones of the place may not match the pierced and black-clad staff in such a conservatively designed environment, but hey a little juxtaposition never hurt anyone. But if Vivace ever decided to embrace its alternativeness further, roughed itself up a bit or even just decided on a more uniform aesthetic, it could definitely leap frog its way to being one of the best cafes in town. Christchurch now more than ever is all about the destination cafe, and what’s great about Vivace is its location amongst the industrial warehouses of Philipstown.
However, Vivace is so much more than a cafe. It is also a roastery (the give away, we guess, is the self-grinding / pouring station in the corner of the cafe), which has been supplying cafes around New Zealand with perfectly roasted beans since 1997. And it goes without saying that the coffee is totally solid. But their regulars and Christchurch locals already know this.
