Located in sunny Sumner, Bohemian Bakery is a neighbourhood bakery inspired by the baking traditions of Eastern Europe, France and beyond.

Owner Maka Angyalova, who hails from Slovakia, opened the bakery in mid-2016, with a passion and commitment for producing authentic bread and other baked goods, specifically prepared and baked by hand on-site. There are six different varieties of bread available, with an emphasis on their award winning sourdough baguette.

A host of other ready-to-eat baked goodies also stack the shelves, including Hungarian goulash meat pies, vegetarian quiches, vegan pies and pastries, croissants, and a great selection of exquisite sweet treats. Everything is made from scratch by Maka and her team, using natural, preservative-free ingredients. Keen advocates of community, toppings and flavours here focus on local, seasonal fruits and vegetables wherever possible. In keeping with the village vibe, Bohemian Bakery uses fresh produce from Cultivate, a social enterprise that combines urban farming with youth development, in many of their menu items.

Bohemian Bakery has become a firm favourite for locals, as well as those from wider areas who just can’t pass up the fantastic bread and traditional treats. Bohemian Bakery can also be found on St. Asaph Street and in the CBD’s Riverside Market.
