Step into Perriam’s Cashel Street store and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the Otago high country. The shop's one-of-a-kind fit out features stacked stone, golden tussock, and other textures from the rugged region. One of these textures in particular, merino, is Perriams’s calling card.

Founder Christina Perriam, grew up on Bendigo Station in Tarras. It is a place that is steeped in pioneering history, and natural beauty, and was also home to Shrek the Sheep. Merino sheep are well suited to the area, and Christina's parents actually started the Tarras village merino shop in the 80's to help establish the textile.

While this special, soft wool is now a worldwide phenomenon, Perriam does it best. Created in 2013, their timeless pieces for women, children, and babies pair luxury with lifestyle, and focus on quality or quantity – every piece is made in New Zealand.

There's no shortage of knitwear to try on here and while most Perriam pieces are merino based, there's also a whole heap of delicious cotton and linen to try on too. Perriam's styles are contemporary and enduring, and the integrity and craftsmanship is hard to miss. Even better, their designs are trans-seasonal meaning you (and/or your bubs) will get as much wear out of your purchases as possible – merino, after all, is as functional in your wardrobe as it is in nature.

Even the Perriam shop itself captures the brand's ethos. As you move away from the busy CBD and into the space you’ll feel a bit removed, and totally relaxed. Be sure to also check out Perriam's other products: blankets, throws, laundering products, and even merino wool for knitting.

In addition to their Cashel Street store, you can shop Perriam on their website, or at their Tarras and Wānaka locations.
