The fit out is welcoming and bright, with cosy booths, low top tables, a long communal table and plenty of patio seating for nice days. LOCAL is the kind of café where you can have a lively catchup with friends, a business meeting or simply enjoy a solo coffee without feeling rushed.
As the name suggests, their menu utilises locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. The long standing brunch favourite, smashed avocado and feta, comes served with housemade potato and rosemary hash, free range Linton fried egg, hollandaise, basil pesto and organic baby rocket. It’s gluten free, deliciously green and supremely satisfying. The brekkie bowl, another top seller, features berry coulis, roasted oats, chia seeds, toasted coconut, hazelnuts, seasonal fruits and Raglan Coconut yogurt.
At LOCAL you can make things your own way, too. The ‘Build a Brekkie’ option in the morning and build your own salad or ramen options in the arvo, make it easy to design your dream meal. For breakfast simply choose how you’d like your eggs, select ciabatta, multigrain or spinach and extras like bacon, grilled Cartwheel Creamery halloumi, free range pork sausage and/or locally made pesto.
The team whips up killer coffees made with Arrosta beans which are roasted in Palmerston North, and these pair perfectly with the homemade treats found in the cabinet. The caramel slice strikes the right balance of buttery, sweet and crunchy.
LOCAL doesn’t stop there though, as they’ve even got a drinks menu which features the best of the region’s wines, beers and spirits. Their specialty highballs are made with Blue Duck vodka and a choice of orange and dandelion, raspberry and lemon, lemon and ginger or sparkling Karma Cola.
Whether you’re after a quick coffee, a long (even slightly boozy) brunch, a nutritious meal or a business meeting, LOCAL is the spot.
