Bringing a new meaning to the term ‘meals on wheels,’ Get Fixed is the harbourside hub in Porirua for those who are into bikes, bagels and everything in between.

Starting out as a single 40-foot container on the edge of Porirua’s harbour, Get Fixed now includes eight of them. Part bicycle workshop and part café, it’s the perfect place to grab a cuppa and a snack while you get your two-wheeled companion serviced. Or, if you’re not in a rush and the weather’s fine, pull up a beanbag and soak up the sun on the grassy expanse out front.

Sustainability is at the core of everything at Get Fixed, right down to the bioloo composting toilet. In addition to the eatery and workshop, you’ll find a refillery stocking locally sourced and/or environmentally friendly Ecostore household items.

The café is focused on vegan and plant-based meals. Bagels, salads and burgers make up the bulk of the menu. The Te Araroa Cheeseburger, with its vegan and non-vegan options, is a crowd favourite. The Rangituhi, Blaster and Colonial bagels are also popular, washed down with Ripe fair trade coffee or kombucha on tap.

With its sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, all housed in an incredibly family-friendly spot with harbourside views, there are few better places in Porirua to while away an hour or two. Get on your bike, and find out for yourself what makes Get Fixed so special.
