If we all had the time and budget, we’d likely be sipping bubbles, whites and reds at a different winery every week. While that lifestyle eludes us for now, we’ve found a friend in The Winery. Located on Ramshaw Lane in Arrowtown, with a second home in Queenstown, this specialist wine store brings together an extensive range of Aotearoa’s finest vineyards under one roof.

The Winery warmly invites locals and visitors to savour award-winning drops from renowned wine brands, as well as unearth hidden gems. Featuring over 1,300 wines, with around 60-80 available to sample by the taste, half or full glass, the journey spans from the iconic pinot noirs of Central Otago to the full-bodied Bordeaux wines of Waiheke Island and beyond.

The tasting experience is designed to be immersive and intriguing. Simply pick up a tasting card from the friendly team, insert it into one of the machines to choose your preferred varietal and volume, and enjoy. The card tracks all your selections, for easy payment at the end. Make sure you pair your drops with a hand-crafted Whitestone Cheese platter or a feast of tasty tapas. On sun-kissed days, the courtyard offers a relaxing place to perch, but when the weather turns, you’ll be wanting to retreat into the cosy cave, with dark wooden accents, exposed stone, leather chairs and a roaring fire ready to embrace you.

Naturally, wine claims much of the spotlight. However, The Winery also celebrates libations of another nature. Opt for a whiskey tasting or embark on a gin flight, featuring local favourites like Broken Heart, Scapegrace, and Rifters.

Offering an experience that accommodates every budget and palette, The Winery draws in connoisseurs, curious novices, and friends seeking a welcoming place to reconnect and unwind.
