Situated in an old petrol station in the Aro Valley, Garage Project’s vibe is all about producing experimental beers in a perfect, yet unexpected setting. The range and quality of beers being churned out at Garage Project is nothing short of sensational. The ten ever-changing taps feature brews made with anything from chilli and kaffir lime leaf, to camomile flowers and smoked chipotle (and two taps are solely dedicated to natural wines made at their central Wellington brewery) . You name it, they've tried brewing with it. A must taste is the Angry Peaches (for the Hop Heads), and Aro Noir which is a wicked dark brew, perfect for warming up on those winter nights. However don't get too attached, the beers change regularly, so what you'll try today may not be available in a few weeks time!
The warm and welcoming cellar door at Garage Project, with its white tiles and tidy woodwork, offers great views of the brewery itself. You can experience tastings with knowledgeable staff at any time, a selection of cans and bottles to takeaway as well as freshly filled crowlers and flagons (and feel free to BYO flagon!). There's even posters, clothing and merchandise on offer too.
Collaborating with creative folk on 99% of their releases, the artwork features an underlying theme of cult-like comic illustration that really finishes the product and continues the creative process.
Garage Project brings a refreshing passion and product to the table; there is no fixed portfolio and no boundaries. These guys love experimenting and seeing what works, essentially they love beer and it shows.
