A Kāpiti Coast provider of stunning florals and indoor plants, The Wilderness is your go-to for any occasion that requires a bunch. Owned and operated by Anna Gibbs, a Paraparaumu local, who first began her journey into running a florist from a caravan, the bricks and mortar store situated in the heart of Paraparaumu Beach village was one of the first to offer the coast with out-of-the-norm arrangements, put together with creativity and flair.

Anna and her team thrive on creating stunning bunches from combinations of grown flowers and foraged foliage, and the seasons play an important part in what you can expect to find. Most of the flowers are collected from the capital’s flower auction three times a week, while some come directly from small local growers.

On top of fresh flowers, The Wilderness stocks a number of indoor plants that will help you add a touch of green to your interiors. The team is knowledgeable on the requirements of each plant, so you can get some advice on how to look after your purchase too. A selection of pots is also available should you want to pick up the full package ready to be placed in your chosen position at home or to be passed on as a gift.

The Wilderness also creates dried floral installations, some of which you can see at other local businesses, plus wee gemlike arrangements with preserved flowers. If that’s not enough, there’s also a selection of terrariums, and on the gift side there are candles, chocolate and jewellery to help you put together a complete gift package.

Even if you’re not in the market for flowers, it’s well worth popping in to admire all the lovely items in this store and also to take in the sweet scent that only fresh flowers can produce.
